Beta 1 of GeneXus X Evolution 1: expand your horizons

Beta 1 of GeneXus X Evolution 1 has been released with the Mobile, COBOL, RPG and VFP generators, thus completing its Web and Windows platforms. It brings new features such as Debugger and Profiler, as well as the ability to work in a team with GXserver.

As it was announced in previous editions of GXnews, Beta 1 of GeneXus X Evolution 1 would soon be released, including all the platforms that would be supported, among other features. Now it is available for download and there are plenty of reasons to do so.

With the addition of the .NET Mobile, COBOL, RPG and Visual FoxPro (dbfs & Client Server); Evolution 1 expands the possibilities of GeneXus X: not only is it possible to develop Web applications –with the .NET, Java, or Ruby Web generators- but also Windows -.NET Windows, Java Windows o Visual Foxpro- and iSeries applications -COBOL o RPG-.

The .NET Mobile generator is available to develop offline applications for mobile platforms; in addition, online web applications generated with .NET, Java or Ruby can also run on mobile browsers provided with the iPhone, Blackberry and other devices.

In addition, since all platforms are supported, migrating KBs that involve several platforms and generators will now be much simpler.

And there are more reasons to adopt Evolution 1: the profiler and debugger make it easier to identify errors and analyze sections of GeneXus code that may reduce performance.

Another powerful reason to use this Beta is to try GXserver –the product that facilitates collaboration among GeneXus development teams- with a public server available at http://gxserver.genexusx.com/%2520 containing some publicly shared Knowledge Bases. In addition, you can view the changes made to each Knowledge Base by following its RSS feeds, as well as connect to this server with your Beta 1 of GeneXus X Evolution 1 and upload test Knowledge Bases that you want to share with the Community, or connect to existing Knowledge Bases and collaborate by making changes. Obviously, you can also download a GXserver setup, install it locally and use it to work as a team with the other members of your project

Download Beta 1 of GeneXus X Evolution 1 and start to expand your technology horizons; and together with GXserver, experience the power of Teamwork.
