Contribution and development

Discovering the possibilities of working with GeneXus in iSeries was one of the objectives of a presentation held some weeks ago in Uruguay.
A brief presentation on the different solutions for generating an application on the iSeries platform was held at the IBM Uruguay offices November 9. Addressing an audience of over 60 people, Sabrina Juárez, a member of the Artech Support Team, introduced the range of possibilities available when developing with GeneXus.

Though the audience was not homogeneous (some participants were experienced in Web applications, while others were experienced in GeneXus applications developed with Cobol, RPG, Client Server generators, etc.), everybody was able to appreciate the new concepts and functionalities provided by GeneXus Rocha to developers, and most importantly, to verify the potential of running the tool on IBM iSeries.

Also shared were examples of hybrid solutions (RPC call from java programs to RPG/Cobol native applications); java solutions (variants in connection pool management) and variants in multi-tier, web services and ejbs solutions. Some tips were given for putting applications in production, related to the monitoring of distributed applications by using JMX tools.
