GeneXus X Evolution 2 Beta 2 released!

The Community will now have the opportunity to develop applications for Smart Devices using Beta 2 of this revolutionary version of GeneXus. Cloud deployment features, more powerful patterns and integrated security are some of the optimizations included.
The Revolution

A revolution is taking place around Smart Devices, the new kind of devices (phones, tablets and others) that is getting more and more popular.

Consumers all over the world have the chance to choose which smart device to buy and use. In addition, each smart devices manufacturer sets its own user interface standards and development languages, which makes application development for smart devices even more challenging.

In this booming scenario, application development is also part of the revolution simply because a new type of application is being run (and can be created) in these mobile devices: native applications which are task or consumer-oriented.

GeneXus X Evolution 2

GeneXus X Evolution 2 incorporates technology and a specific generator for these devices: the Smart Devices Generator. The devices supported so far are Android, Blackberry and iOS -iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch.

This means that you only have to describe your needs, and GeneXus generates the applications and makes them run on those devices; all of them based on a single description.

GeneXus X Evolution 2 Beta 2

Now we are announcing the release of Beta 2, so as to enable the Community to take part in the process of developing GeneXus X Evolution 2 and Beta Test this version from the early stages.

Beta 2 allows you to generate applications for devices such as Android 2.x Blackberry and iOS -iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch in Ruby backoffice, Java and .NET.

Other key features of Beta 2 are as follows:

·        Integrated Application Security, new security module called GAM (GAM or GeneXus Access Manager)

·         REST web services

·         Cloud deployment features

It provides more intelligence and completeness:

This can be seen in the application’s navigation and relationships.

The services (REST generated on the server side) can also be in Java. In addition to two-level transactions, some pickers are supported. For instance, the date picker and gestures in Android.
