GXplorer, the GeneXus DataWarehousing solution, is the only Latin-American DW construction and administration tool in the Microsoft Data Warehouse Alliance 2000. The GeneXus Data Warehouse solution is made up of: the GXplorer OLAP tool for users; the administration tool GXplorer OLAP Manager –also for users-; and the GXplorer Metadata Manager tool for the analyst. GXplorer Web Olap is the main new feature of the GXplorer 3.0 tool, which allows queries to be made with the same power offered by GXplorer Olap for Excel and by dynamic tables, but without needing a local connection to the Data Warehouse because it is possible to do it over the Internet.
In addition to the features included in version 2.0, GXplorer Olap for Excel offers the possibility of viewing the results of the queries in a Query Table, as well as in a Pivot Table. Using a Query Table instead of a Pivot Table implies greater performance, as the Query Tables are quicker at handling data than Pivot Tables.
This feature is set in the tab advanced when a query is edited/created. It is also possible to define a password to grant access to users to the Olap since, as of this version, a login window is displayed where you should indicate your OLAP User name and password assigned by the administrator, instead of granting access to the user who entered (logged onto) the system.
GXplorer with OLE Automation. From version 3.0 onwards it is possible to handle GXplorer using OLE, from any programming environment supporting OLE, such as Visual Basic. There are several methods provided for handling GXplorer programmatically, and for performing the functions usually carried out interactively from Excel or from the browser.
