One of the main characteristics of GXportal 4.3 will be greater power in content management. From the new version, contents can be generated to be accessed by means of a link that can be internal or external to the portal. This way, the body of the contents can be a text, a file and from version 4.3, it can also be a link. Also, its new role in the backend will enable users to surf the portal with that assigned role and edit contents directly from the page they are seeing. This will allow a faster access for new content publication and for modifying or eliminating existing one.
One of the main new characteristics of GXportal 4.3 is Real Simple Syndication (RSS) RSS has become one of the most often used standards for information exchange. Syndication, which is the name given to this feature, was specifically developed for all types of sites that are updated frequently and it enables sharing information and using it in other web sites or programs. In version 4.3 it will be possible to configure a content GXportlet so that the contents published in it can be published as RSS. This enables the portal user to be informed of the contents published in the GXportlet without having to visit the page every time.
Additionally, GXportal will be able to consume RSS feeds as if it were an RSS client. The RSS feed that will be used to create that type of content has to be configured in GXportal by content type. Every time the feed is consumed, the items in it will be replicated as contents in GXportal. When this happens, they can be manipulated as any other portal content. GXportal will be able to consume the RSS from any source, especially GXportal. When the source is another GXportal site, the additional advantage will be that the body of the content will be replicated too.
A final feature linked to this last one is that version 4.3 of GXportal will also offer the possibility of publishing contents automatically. Through the Content GXportlet, we will be able to indicate if that GXportlet will accept for the contents to be published automatically. This way, every time a new content of a specific type is created, it will automatically be published in all the GXportlets that have automatic publication on and which additionally have that type of associated content.
