GXPortal at Asae-Proesa México

Asae-Proesa México used GXPortal to publish a dynamic Web site, keep the design of the original site and ease information maintenance.

"Thanks to the GXportlets we can put a site together in a matter of minutes, without having programming knowledge or sacrificing graphical effects," said Adrián Flores Castillo, a graphic designer from Asae-Proesa México?s Consulting and Development area.

GXPortlets are pre-defined components ?included in GXPortal? that enable the programming-free development of user groups, forums, and FAQs.

Asae-Proesa México, a group made up of several Mexican companies, is a GeneXus distributor focused on the integration of technological solutions. It has operated in the Mexican market since 1982, and is currently present throughout the whole Mexican Republic with a staff of over 1,800 professionals. Their main offices are located in Distrito Federal, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Toluca, and their client portfolio includes companies and institutions such as Banamex, Banco Bital, Bancomer, Cervercería Corona, the Governments of Nuevo León and Querétaro, and Mabe Mexico.

For years, Asae-Proesa?s site was modified "manually" and the information was not updated on a regular basis. Only one person was in charge of updating of the site, which turned out to be a burdensome and tedious task. "Now, with GXPortal, each department is responsible for the content update of the Web site. This way, the communication between the company and the community is more fluid, and the site is always up-to-date. Above all, this dynamic site has allowed us to beat work overload. Its workflow capabilities enable us to control the information to be published, date ranges, translations, etc.," explained Flores Castillo.

From the graphic designer?s point of view, Flores Castillo said that: "we are more focused on aesthetics now, and can leave the whole back office to GXPortal. We don?t do any programming, but we can include surveys, log-in/pass, dynamic or customized content, frequently asked questions, etc." He also mentioned that since they are able to directly edit the HTML code, they have no design limitations. Javier Espinosa, Consulting and Development Deputy Director at Asae-Proesa México, highlighted the usefulness of GXPortlets to automatically validate new portal users, which has allowed Consulting and Development staff to forget about character and form values. These components were also used to create specific area forums moderated by each department.

"Asae has managed to keep the previous design, proving that GXPortal can accommodate any design with just a couple of clicks, with the advantage of managing information remotely," he added.
