GXportal at the Electoral Council

The Electoral Council of Uruguay launched a Web site developed with GXportal to offer its citizens the largest amount of information possible in an easy, fast and reliable way.

The Electoral Council is a government agency responsible for controlling and overseeing the electoral processes in Uruguay.

This agency was in need of communicating, in a fast and reliable way, institutional and specific information regarding the primary election that took place on June 27th.

To accomplish this goal, the Electoral Council created a Web site, www.corteelectoral.gub.uy, where citizens can make all sorts of queries regarding the election results as well as the existing regulations. The setting and installation, which was made with GXportal, only took a month.

"This is the first time the Electoral Council offers a Web site and uses this means to communicate with its citizens," pointed out Ricardo Schaich, a technician from the Computing Center at the Electoral Council, who is responsible for its implementation.

The goal of creating this site was to offer our citizens the largest amount of information possible in an easy, fast and reliable way, to continue safeguarding our electoral processes, explained Schaich.

The choice of GXportal and GeneXus for this development was based on "the speed needed for its outcome and the easy maintenance," as well as "the high productivity level they have," said Schaich.

The system works on a Windows 2000 Server platform, with SQL Server as the DBMS database that stores 100 Mb for the query application and 40 Mb for the Portal.
