GXPortal: Playing Multimedia Files on Opening a Page

In some cases you might want to play an audio or video file, for instance when a user enters a portal's home page. Here is how to do it in GXPortal.

To play a multimedia file on opening a page developed with GXPortal, you should follow these steps:

1. Create new HTML from the management option "Free HTML."

2. Edit the HTML and write the following code:

EMBED SRC="audio.wav" LOOP=TRUE AUTOSTART=TRUE HIDDEN=TRUE

The complete or relative path to the file you want to play should be assigned in SRC. LOOP indicates if the file will play repeatedly.

3. Save the edited HTML

4. Go to the "Design" option of the page in which you wish to play the sound or video file.

5. Add a new HTML-type GXPortlet to the page in any area.

6. Select the HTML created in step 1.

7. Publish the changes made to the page.

If you want to play this file in a series of pages you should place the GXPortlet in a template from where other pages can access it.
