Microsoft Uruguay, ARTech and Zonamérica -with Hewlett Packard?s support- inaugurated on June 15th the laboratory of .NET Solution Center. It is a Microsoft technology environment where software development companies will be able to evaluate the software they develop and explore new technologies with global quality standards.

The leaders of the export software industry and the academic sector attended the event.

This new technology laboratory, located in Zonamérica, will require an investment of USD 300 thousand in facilities, hardware, software and services in the next 2 years. The main objective is to achieve an ideal working environment, where the companies devoted to software development in Uruguay will access state-of-the-art resources to improve and enhance their products, as well as the quality and volume of their exports.

The laboratory .NET Solution Center will have the support and assistance of specialized technicians from both Microsoft and ARTech. This lab responds to the high potential for development of the national software industry. The lab is linked to the Software Trial Center Associated Laboratories program, an initiative of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies (CUTI) and the Institute for Computer Sciences at the School of Engineering, University of the Republic.

Gabriel Andrada, Microsoft?s general manager, emphasized the importance of this new laboratory and stated that business models based on true strategic alliances that use Microsoft are the key to success. He also pointed out how the local software industry continues to increase its share of the global market.

Gustavo Carriquiry, ARTech?s operations manager and responsible for the LAB, said: "I think it?s a great opportunity for those GeneXus clients who are working in .NET technology to try and optimize their applications with a ?ready to use? hard, soft and HR infrastructure." In addition, people who have not worked on that platform will access these resources without the initial investment (in time and money required. Based on those resources they will be able to provide much higher quality solutions, therefore achieving a better position for global competitiveness.
