SmartData is a program of the Uruguayan Chamber of
Industries that seeks to increase the business knowledge of companies. In the
first stage in this program, a Business Intelligence solution was designed and
implemented in order to facilitate access to information on Uruguay's foreign
trade.
The solution involved the creation of a Data Warehouse
whose data is retrieved from the XML files published daily by the Customs
National Office.
Those files ? which include information on imports,
exports, and daily traffic ? are processed and loaded into the Data Warehouse by
using programs developed with GeneXus 8.0, generating C/SQL on the SQLServer
database.
With this loading program developed with the latest
GeneXus version, there has been a 70% performance increase. People responsible
for this development explained that programs like this one used to need many
tables and cursors, and now have shown significant improvements.
Queries to the Data Warehouse are performed using
GXplorer, ARTech's Business Intelligence solution that enables performing
queries, reports, and analyses on stored information through a simple and
intuitive interface.
Queries may be performed using either GXplorer Windows or
its on-line version: GXplorer Web.
Using SmartDATA you may track whole sectors or a group of
companies of interest. This is just an example of the multiple querying options
available through this information system with regards to Uruguayan foreign
trade.
