The new GXflow 8.5 keystones

More options to improve tracking, monitoring and management of processes as well as integration and security aspects are the keystones of the newest GXflow version launched at the XVI GeneXus International Meeting.

In addition to the platforms supported (.NET and Java, and the DBMS Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 for Iseries and DB2 UDB), it has now the possibility of supporting MySql as DBMS since GeneXus 9.0 offers this new option. In short, GXflow 8.5 enables a full open source production environment.

GXflow 8.5 allows defining that a user or a group of users with a specific role will take the tasks formerly performed by a user that is temporarily out of office. This is a very useful tool for holidays or employee leave.

As for the security, this new version offers mechanisms that allow for the segmentation of process information according to user roles.  E.g.: it is possible to define that specific users require a full view of the process while for others the information to be displayed may be limited to certain sections of the process.

The new version incorporates a feature that allows specifying the timetable, working days and holidays to be taken into account to calculate task deadlines.

With this new 8.5 version several users may work collectively on the same activity. It is also possible to assign a task to a list of users, which fully complements the feature of "delegate and return”; i.e.: after the task has been completed by the user to whom it was delegated, it returns to the initial user.

GXflow 8.5 also incorporates new measures that enable, among other things, to determine the number of active instances by task in each process or, on a more generally, the number of active instances for each process.  In short, these indicators are useful to show the current status of the company processes, the number of ongoing processes, the pending work, and the workload.

Finally, it presents a new series of services that facilitate the integration to other components such as GXportal. GXportal has predefined GXflow entry points that allow integrating both components.  The integration of components then becomes an essential element. Most companies have a corporate portal and they need to access all applications from this portal. With this new feature, the integration of the portal to GXflow is automatic.
