The South Africa World Cup 2010 with GeneXus! Sign up now to be part of the 2010 World Cup soccer bet developed in GeneXus Evolution 1

The world cup fever has reached the U.S. GeneXus Community: Gabriel Gramajo introduces us to the world cup soccer bet, a site to place your forecast on the teams’ ranking, with prizes for those whose guesses match the greater number of actual results.

::Gabriel Gramajo::

Gabriel Gramajo has been working in the U.S. for the past six years, four of which he has been GeneXus and .NET project leader for one of the leading American companies in auto parts sales through the web. He told us that, in February 2010, he gave full rein to his passion for soccer, and spent all his free time on developing a soccer bet in GeneXus, which he now wants to share with our Community.

How did you come up with the idea of an online soccer bet based on GeneXus?

The application was built with GX Evolution 1 Upgrade 2, and generated in .NET against SQL Server.

It was done from scratch in one month (practically throughout February 2010), mainly to satisfy my addiction to soccer, and also to improve my knowledge of this fantastic tool called GeneXus X Evolution 1, which breaks away from all previous preconceived ideas, allowing software creators not only to increase productivity but also to provide friendlier, fully updated web experiences.

Will this application provide information on the 2010 World Cup?

The application was designed with the idea of including information on the upcoming soccer world cup, while trying to provide a means for assessing the knowledge that registered users have about soccer.

Can you describe the procedure for assessing that knowledge?

Very simple! Registered users will provide possible results for all matches throughout the championship, including the finals.

As matches take place, all guesses proven right will accumulate points, which, towards the end of the championship, will imply prizes for those users who attained the greatest scores. Prizes will range from portable external hard drives, iPod shuffle music players and flash drives to T-shirts. The users with the top 6 scores will be awarded the prizes.

One of the advantages of the site is that users may create their own groups to assess their knowledge with relatives, friends, workmates, etc. Also, there will be weekly questions in the Trivia section where users will be able to obtain bonus points. The questions will relate to the history of soccer.

Have you already signed up to put your knowledge to the test? Visit South Africa 2010 soccer bet and register now!
