You don't have to know HTML to work with Web Panels!

Web Panels generate HTML code (the code interpreted by browsers) and CGI programs to access a database, and are used to make applications in Internet. Until now, GeneXus objects had a common editor, but took into account the peculiarity and the need to ease the creation of Web applications. The Ceibo version includes a new editor, exclusive for the object Web Panels.
"The editor changed completely, to suit what was really needed from it," says Gabriela Soria from ARTech. The former editor was form oriented, like the ones used in visual languages, with the controls placed on the coordinate base. However, designing Web pages has different requirements, and the new editor is better adapted for those tasks. The interface of the new editor, where the developer works, shows what will be published on the Internet (WYSIWYG).
Marking the text and changing the letter color is now as easy as it is in Word. The new editor is more functional; so one does not need to know HTML, as the editor works as an Office text processor, where the text format can be easily changed. In addition, the editor recognizes e-mail addresses and marks them as links, so messages can be sent by just clicking on the links.
The Web Panels editor allows inserting GeneXus controls (Controls edit, subfile, buttons, etc.) and improves the management of tables because no Web properties are needed; -it is possible to insert the fields in a table were the data will be shown. Additionally, checkboxes and lists of text selection to be used in the subfiles will be added in Beta 2.
