AI, IoT, Self-driving Vehicles, and Blockchain: Learning by Doing!

18January/2018
For GeneXus' CEO Nicolás Jodal, 2018 is a promising year that will bring innovations in the fields of IoT, self-driving vehicles, and blockchain-related technologies. Also, Mr. Jodal affirms that we're ready for the upcoming technological developments thanks to the active involvement of the GeneXus Community.

For thirty years, GeneXus has built a valuable developer Community. In many ways, our experience and background reflect the digital transformation that is currently taking place. From the start, our focus was on database design, migration, integration and consulting with intensive use of Artificial Intelligence, which has shaped who we are today.

Challengers of the real digital transformation

What we have seen in the last ten years all over the world is more than the evolution of various technologies; we've experienced a change of paradigm, which is probably the most significant one after the third industrial revolution. We're now entering into a world whose underlying dynamics aren't fixed; instead, they change and adapt in real time, according to data received from the surrounding environment. This year's pace will be determined by the transition from scarce to abundant, from fixed to variable, from slow to immediate.

In this context, the industry's stakes in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are growing fast. First, this is due to the increase in computing power, and second, because of the evolution of Deep Learning systems. Down the same path, we find the IoT (Internet of Things) with booming wireless and sensors industries. Even though this field has been extensively developed, it can be exploited much further. That's why the year ahead will open many opportunities for the GeneXus Community if we also factor in maturing technologies such as smart and automatic management of the staggering amounts of data available, the possibilities of customizable IoT and small, self-driving vehicles, as well as the trust that blockchain technology could create.

Our mission for 2018 will then be to help others shape their future. Any CTO or IT professional in charge of a digital transformation initiative who is seeking guidance or would like to share an idea with us –regardless of how absurd it may seem– is welcome to contact us through our communication channels. We're committed to paying enthusiastic attention to ideas, suggestions or issues, and later explore potential solutions.

As for our valued Community of 135,000 developers, we know that we're here today, at the beginning of 2018, thanks to your trust and commitment to freely contribute with ideas, solutions, and comments in every GeneXus release.
Our deepest gratitude goes to all the GeneXus Community members. Here's to 30 more years of collaborative search for current and future solutions! Thank you for helping us model 2018!
