Costa Rica Customs Office will use GIA

Costa Rica Customs Office decided on GIA software (Gestión Integral Aduanera) - Customs Integral Management, the same software used by Uruguay´s Customs Office. This system was developed with GeneXus by the Uruguayan company Concepto.

Concepto (www.concepto.com.uy) provides software development and consulting services since 1990, year in which it was founded by member partners Almeida, Gustavo Ulivi, and Raúl Caro.
The Uruguayan company will be responsible for the installation of GIA software in
Costa Rica starting next month. This system will manage customs operations related to imports, exports, and the flow of goods going through a country. Thanks to the system, a country the size of Uruguay – using GIA since 1998 – collects about 1 billion dollars a year.
The system has been developed with
GeneXus
7.0, and generated by VFP, C/SQL and Java. The data base is Oracle 8i and SQLServer 2000.
In the study carried out by Costa Rican technicians using the Customs Systems of México, Perú, Argentina, as well as in the one developed by the ONU (SIDUNEA),
one of the determining factors for a decision favorable to GIA has been its development using
GeneXus due to the features this tool provides: data base independence, programming language independence, easy incorporation of new technologies, mentioned Enrique Almeida, one of the founding partners at Concepto.

The application intensively uses the technologies provided by ARTech:
XML for the exchange of messages among users and institutions involved in foreign trade; Webpanles for operative and statistical queries; GXFlow for paperwork tracing, GXOffice for the automatic issuance of notary certifications; Webservices for the interconnection of heterogeneous systems; GxPublic for the internal development process, and Gxplorer for the study of data on its Datawarehouse. CONCEPTO is working on a C# version of GIA, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, reported Almeida.
