Dispapeles Colombia Uses GeneXus

Dispapeles is a Colombian company dedicated to the recycling and marketing of all types of paper and its byproducts. In a context where a competitive environment is added to the financial crisis, Dispapeles decided to look for new market niches through the Internet, for which it faced the need to update and customize its software platform to provide the functionalities appropriate to the company's activities.

To do so, it adopted GeneXus as a tool for customized development of a production system, an ERP, a Web Outsourcing system and a Web quoting system, all in record time. The decision to choose GeneXus was based on "our market's dynamics which force us to react to software changes and adaptations that are more complex and costly with pre-packaged solutions," and on "the high cost of pre-built software," pointed out Ezequiel Porras, Systems Director at Dispapeles.

Dispapeles developed a manufacturing software based on standard costs; systematized the company's marketing processes by creating applications for its inventory, portfolio, treasury, accounts payable, sales and billing. In addition, it developed two Web applications: one meant to support the outsourcing of supplies, and the other to manage and follow-up the production plant's quotes.

"They're customized developments with characteristics unique to our business in terms of functionality and control," Porras explained. "The main challenge consisted in developing applications in record time at lower costs, and within the same time frame it would have traditionally taken to implement a pre-packaged solution," highlighted the Systems Director at Dispapeles.
