GeneXus Consulting Announces K2B Program

A business alliance for the development and marketing of solutions based on GeneXus technologies

Montevideo, June 15, 2004 ? GeneXus Consulting, ARTech's professional services company, today announced the international launch of K2B Program, an alliance aimed at developing and marketing the K2B Business Framework suite.

The aim of the K2B Program, (where "K2B" stands for "Knowledge To Business"), is to position a series of GeneXus solutions and associated services in the international market, and to create a well-known quality brand supported by highly competitive companies. Members of the program will benefit from new alternatives for international activities and concrete opportunities for sustained growth.

The so-called "World Class" solutions have traditionally been positioned as best practices imported from other areas of the world. However, experience has shown that in Latin America such investments have never reached the expected returns. Furthermore, solutions adopted as best practices in their countries of origin are not always adaptable to the unique and changing domestic markets of Latin America.

The program provides for the creation of a network of collaboration among members that play various roles in the K2B value chain according to their specialization and capabilities: product development, marketing, implementation, etc.

GeneXus Consulting Director Karina Santo pointed out that "The solutions market is at the start of an industrialization process. In the case of applicative software, this process involves two key factors: the possibility of adapting easily to concrete realities, and of evolving from the functional and technological point of view. Version upgrades every two years at skyrocketing costs are now unthinkable.

Only those products that are best at achieving this will survive, and it is necessary to have adequate technology.

In order to accomplish this objective we have placed great emphasis on the creation of a series of guidelines, patterns and tools for the development of solutions, which we call "K2B Tools."

Our aims are:

? To cut development and evolution costs in half.

? To enable efficient version upgrades on previously changed installations.

? To provide powerful real time customization mechanisms.

Furthermore, we have made alliances with vertical and horizontal content providers for the development of a K2B Suite of products that comply with such guidelines and are easily integrated. The product alliances made so far are Celta (Balanced Scored Card), GMANT (Industrial Maintenance), GXSALUD (Health), GXRETAIL (Retail), GXVISION (Telecommunications), ISO-GESAC (CRM) MAP (Human Resources), Siglo XXI (Utilities). In this environment, the K2B Suite ERP is the one with the strongest integration elements and will be the core of the K2B Suite. We have chosen GACI as our partner for its creation, because of their functional knowledge, installed base, and experience in implementation and consulting.

"Our purpose is to provide a springboard for the Software Houses community to access solutions for large companies, by adding value to a basic solution, while offering competitive prices and quality," emphasized the executive.
