Casasco Laboratories (http://www.casasco.com/) is a manufacturer of specialty medicines, with 125 years of experience, and is ranked within the first 15 laboratories of the pharmaceutical industry in the Argentinean market. As a client of Rumble (www.rumble.com.ar ) it has used GeneXus since version 3.0 and since a year ago incorporated GXplorer as their datawarehousing tool.
How long have you been using GXplorer?
Senior management and the marketing management of Casasco Laboratories in Argentina have been using GXplorer on the AS/400 platform for a year. The development was rapid and the results were seen very quickly. Clearly it was very helpful to be able to include the result of a query in an Excel spreadsheet.
What is Gxplorer used for in the Casasco Laboratorios?
With GXplorer they perform queries about the laboratory sales completed in the last ten years. Currently, audit information is being fed into the company Data Warehouse and cross checked with sales data. These audits - that have been carried out by independent companies - tell us, for example, in which zones the receipts are being issued in pharmacies.
The Laboratory can be selling 60 units of a product in one community, but the audit shows that in this community no receipts were issued, but they issued 60 receipts in another community.
This means that although the point of sales is the first community, the dealership is the second community and it can mean that the sales people of the second community may not be selling because the demand is being covered from the other side.
In addition, we are now building an accounting data warehouse, and then we are expecting to build one of medical samples and one of costs. We are really exploiting to the maximum the possibilities and budgets assigned in the company.
Why did you select GXplorer?
I thought it best to have everything as standardized as possible, extracting it or manipulating it with the same tool, and because the cost to develop, build and work with a Data Warehouse is clearly less using GeneXus and GXplorer than with any other product in the market place.
How much is this difference in cost?
Among the products that I was evaluating 3 to 1-or even more- with respect to tools that are well known and cost more but whose final product is practically the same. ARTech has a position that it has maintained throughout the years and it is the concern that its product is used.
This is important also; the easy attainment of a solution makes us to make the most of it, to use it quickly.
