Web development in Mexico with GeneXus: maximization of working hours

This public organization – part of the Economic and Public Credit Secretariat in Mexico-, in charge of preventive and corrective actions in financial systems, was in need of standardizing the development of applications in the area, in Web environment, to provide a more efficient service to users and allow for shorter periods for delivery.

The organization was previously using Visual Basic 6.0, php, Access, until it finally decided to solve the development of this system with GeneXus X. The decision was based on the fact that GeneXus is a tool that allows for the programming and quick release of Web applications, and also offers advantages relative to easy connection with the various types of databases, programming of forms and screens for entry, deletion and changes with greater speed than in code programming. The Executive Director of BIS Solutions, Angélica Pacchiano, provided them with a solution based on GeneXus which had immediate approval and was adopted by the computer systems staff of the organization.

The system allows for the capture and follow-up of reports used by CONDUSEF to report to the higher ranks. It captures annual delivery schedules and allows the possibility of attaching files of various formats.

To Juan José García Mora, the Vice-director of Computer Data and Telecommunications of CONDUSEF, the main challenge encountered was that the system is aimed to the higher ranks of command, so “it has to be a dynamic and easy-to-use application, with a quick response capability for information requests”. This also allows user areas to operate on a day to day basis.

The final solution in production is an application server hosting the web applications with an IIS server and an Oracle database server.

The solution, fully generated in web environment proved to be satisfactory “because the development time for applications is visibly shorter than the standard traditional time”, assured García Mora, who also added that the most outstanding factor was the possibility of automation of the reporting process.

Thanks to this solution implemented by BIS and the staff at CONDUSEF it is possible to save time in developing daily work with the use of up-to-date technology. It was all done manually and there was duplicated work as a result.

Users have available easier to use applications, since they are in web environment, in addition to the benefit of automated processes, precisely because they can access their applications quicker.” Among other things, García Mora pointed out database management, scalability and fast development of applications as some of the valuable features.
