Concepto and GeneXus were chosen by the Multilateral Investment Fund in order to develop an IT system intended to manage courier operations. This project is part of the process American countries follow to become ALCA members. |
The project is called "Customs measures in order to facilitate international business in Latin America and the Caribbean". It seeks to promote new international business in Latin America and the Caribbean, through the coordinated incorporation of eight customs measures that have been defined in order to facilitate international business. The Inter-American Development Bank, through FOMIN, provides funding for the implementation of these measures, one of which is the availability of IT systems in order to handle all courier operations, Gustavo Ulivi, Concepto's Director, said.
At the end of last year FOMIN made an international call to all professional consultants to submit their proposal for developing the courier system. From the 20 proposals received by FOMIN, the institution selected a group of professionals led by Concepto, a Uruguayan company that uses GeneXus as a development tool. The versatility provided by GeneXus in terms of language independence, databases, and platforms, gave our proposal a very good score, said Mr. Ulivi. For carrying out this development, Concepto partnered with a Law Firm from Costa Rica, which will provide legal assistance regarding all necessary requirements for the implementation of the system in different Latin American countries.
After receiving official confirmation of the assignment of the project, Concepto began the process of developing the system's prototype that will be installed in Costa Rica this year, and later on in the Dominican Republic. The Uruguayan company is expecting to use GeneXus 7.5, the last version of the tool, profiting from the advantages that it offers for developments aimed at operating in the Web. On the other hand, at the end of May, Concepto will start meeting with the Association of International Couriers, to whom they suggested to participate in this project. |
