CP2.0 Interview: GeneXusMap |
|
A talk with Paulo Sapuppo, of the GeneXus Community, about the features and uses of his project. |
-What is GeneXusMap?
-GeneXusMap is basically the geographic equivalent of the GeneXus Community. It helps you locate yourself on the world map and know how many fellow GeneXus users are near you, as well as Distributors and Partners, and companies that use the GeneXus technology. In this sense, we want it to be a useful tool for the community, helping people share experiences and projects. All this is developed in a very graphic, user-friendly way.
-How did the idea of creating it originate?
-The idea originated from our wish to contribute to the GeneXus community, and Collaborative Projects 2.0 emerged as the ideal setting for carrying out this project, through the application of the technologies provided by GeneXus, such as User Controls.
-What motivated you to participate in the second edition of Collaborative Projects 2.0?
-The opportunity for integration, the experience, the sharing of ideas, the challenge... these are just a few of the many reasons I didn't want to miss the chance of participating in CP 2.0. Above all, I wanted to give the GeneXus Community a useful tool, which is what I hope GeneXusMap will be.
- What are the challenges involved in your project?
There are many challenges involved -from the development itself to the acceptance and use of the tool by the users. Also, adapting to the use of the new technologies such as GeneXus User Controls and GeneXus Server. Simple interfaces, with many functionalities, adapted to the interaction and social networks, as specified by the Web 2.0.
- What are your expectations with respect to CP 2.0?
-Basically, I hope that CP 2.0 will contribute to the growth of the Community and promote the exchange of experiences, and that it will allow us to assess the value contributed by other projects. We also hope that we will be able to draw some useful conclusions. For all of you who wish to participate, there’s still time to do it. We will welcome any comments or suggestions about the project. You are all invited to put your dot on GeneXusMap..
