GeneXus 6 Evolution II Beta 1 Main features include New Web Panels Editor, Private Objects, ActiveX Editor, Transactions in JAVA generator, OLEDB Grid Support, Display Mode, GXoffice, Output Rule, and New properties editor. |
New Web Panels Editor The editor’s aim is to empower and to simplify the Web Panel’s form edition, allowing an easy creation of powerful and fancy web sites. An editor, similar to Microsoft’s Front Page, was licensed. It was designed considering the Microsoft Office tools’ standard, which allows the users to make use of it quickly and in an intuitive way. Private Objects This new feature’s aim is to facilitate the knowledge business, allowing the owner exclusive control over certain aspects of the objects (called ‘private’), which he considers necessary and specific, to him. Other parts of the private object, the screens for example, will continue being visible for each person to adapt it to his own needs. ActiveX Editor In this new version, a new form editor is included. It is built on ActiveX controls’ container. This allows that ActiveX controls can be used in the forms definition, apart from the standard controls. Transactions in JAVA generator With this version, the Transaction object can also be generated in Java. As a result, the generator stays in the same condition as the rest of the visual generators (Visual Basic and Visual FoxPro). OLEDB Grid Support In the former Visual Basic generator versions, in order to manage the grids, acquiring an additional control (Sheridan DataWidgets) was required. With this version, using this grid is not obligatory, and Visual Basic’s native control can be used. Display Mode A new display mode ('DSP') for the Transactions was added to the already existent ones ('INS', 'UPD' and 'DLT'). This mode’s aim is to allow for a new way of displaying the information without the need of creating a new object. GXoffice Gxoffice’s aim is to unify the interaction with MSOffice functions (Excel, Word and Outlook) for the different generated languages. For this version, not only were the already existent functions ‘unified’, but new features were also added. Output Rule This new feature allows the reports to send their output to a file, apart from the screen output or the printer output, simply by indicating the name and the desired format. New properties editor With the new editor, the code’s existent properties are unified with the ‘forms’ edition properties.
