The V GeneXus Meeting in Peru, held on October 27 at the
Hotel & Suites Las Américas, was a complete success. About 300 individuals
-clients, business partners and people interested in GeneXus technology
products- attended the meeting.
AB&AB Tecnologías de la Información, distributor of
GeneXus products in Peru, organized the event. It consisted on three
simultaneous sessions on technical topics, solutions and experiences of users
developing with GeneXus in Peru.
Eng. Nicolás Jodal, ARTech's vicepresident, addressed the
short and medium term technological future of GeneXus. The GeneXus community in
Peru had a great opportunity to have a face-to-face interaction with the
co-author of the GeneXus project.
Carlos Benites is in charge of the information projects at
Universal Textil, a supplier of high quality textiles that has used GeneXus
technology for more than 11 years. He gave a presentation on Itools Gx, a
utility product that offers functionalities to simplify the management of
iseries from a PC.
Eng. William Enriquez, systems manager at Textil San
Cristóbal, spoke about his experience developing a budgeting control system for
the entire company.
Eng. Ramiro Zúñiga, e-Server line IBM specialist, showed
the iseries i5 benefits and how GeneXus makes the most of the power of these
servers under several platforms.
On the Quality of Software Development Process
presentation, Eng. Cesar Chavarry explained the concepts of Quality Management
applied to software development, quality and project effort estimation metrics
when developing with GeneXus.
AB&AB and Proemsa team presented solutions and
experiences developed with GeneXus, GXportal 4.0 features as an integrator of
applications, and some successful cases of portals developed with GXportal. SIA
GX (Management Integrated System) advantages and benefits were shown, improving
the working conditions on Windows, Web and Wap environments.
And of course, the new features of the upcoming GeneXus
version were presented as well as some technical presentations such us:
Optimization of GeneXus Applications, GeneXus and the specification J2EE,
GeneXus and software development methodologies.
Eng. Aldo Canales pointed out that "the GeneXus Community
in Peru, with members coming from different parts of the country, is very happy
to attend this V Meeting as one of the activities planned for the spread of the
GeneXus technologies. It's also an opportunity to show how ARTech offers us
up-to-date technological concepts: GeneXus and its suite of products are tools
that unify technologies, therefore maintaining the company's knowledge with
portability and in different environments."
