The beta test process for the new version of GXportal 5.0 has been started. Clients, companies, the community of entrepreneurs and designers in general are invited to participate as beta testers.
To take part in this process you only have to sign up and, since it’s hosted by Artech, you don’t have to download, install or configure GXportal. All you need is a user account to use this new version.
The complete reengineering of the product was based on the possibilities offered by GeneXus Evolution 1. In this sense, GXportal 5.0 takes website development to a new level, with enhanced experience in regards to building and maintenance, which turns it more user-friendly.
This innovative version presents an interface oriented at usability. This becomes evident in new features like drag and drop which make development a more visual task, and the use of AJAX technology. Both features enable users to do more with fewer clicks.
Focusing on SEO (
Search Engine Optimization) is also a strength of GXportal 5.0. Contents as well as pages developed with this new version will be better positioned on search engines, thanks to the use of Friendly URLS and more semantic code that will enable the website to be better ranked.
New concepts
Gxportal 5.0 also presents new concepts such as site map. The administration based on channels, pages and templates is now arranged from a single place called site map. There you can, among other things, generate and create –using drag and drop, for example- the website navigation structure.
New portlets
More power in websites created with Gxportal. It is now possible to include Google maps, videos, and photo galleries, or consume RSS feeds just by adding a URL.
