The National Health Institute (INS), a technical agency of
the Peruvian Ministry of Health, is devoted to researching the most important
Health issues in all their aspects.
The INS decided to organize and present its information in
a portal designed with GXportal with the support of AB&AB Tecnologías de la
Información. At the same time they added more value for their target audience
and the community in general by integrating new services enabled by the tool
(discussion forums, for example).
The large volume of information, the wide range of
applications handled by the institution, the exclusive Intranet access for INS
staff, the statistics and follow-up of the external users and visitors that
access the Internet portal, as well as many more features, are now organized and
managed with GXportal.
The new portal contributes efficiently to spreading and
enhancing the promotion, development and propagation of the
technological-scientific research and the rendering of public health services.
It also enables access to the applications for the
administration of staff directories, virtual documentation, publication and
administration of institutional bulletins, and other typical applications of the
area. It also uses a specialized electronic commerce module developed to offer
the various products and services provided by the state institution through its
different national centers.
Most GXportal features were used in the construction of
the portal. The user profile, for example, was used to differentiate information
displayed for INS employees from that presented to the general public. The user
profile was also used to restrict Intranet access.
AB&AB Tecnologías de la Información, GeneXus
distributor in Peru, participated in the redesign of the INS Web portal and gave
the institution a functional portal that the INS itself can modify and enlarge
according to its requirements.
