GX Italy is characterized for performing highly personalized projects. This time they have developed software for the management of a heating service, performed with GeneXus X. |
This time, GX Italia introduces a product developed in GeneXus X for its customer, Compañía General de Metano.
The Metano Group has been working in Italy since 1970. Their product “Heat Service” allows for the management and maintenance of 300 public thermal plants with a general potential of 47.80 MWdis, or more than 37000 kW, located in the municipal buildings, schools and hospitals of 24 municipalities.
The purpose of the project was to remotely turn on and off the heating in the different areas of the client’s operations and to have real-time control of the situation, as well as to have accurate information on the planning and control of the total use hours. Once the solution was implemented, the remote control of the accessories allowed for cost optimization and energy savings.
To this end, the product was constructed on Java Web - Microsoft SQL 2000 with GeneXus X. The network was implemented with Apache 2 and is currently constituted in an application that is executed with a device in conjunction with Centos 5 Operating System, using VMWar.
Gustavo Caorsi, a member of the GeneXus Community in Italy, and one of the main promoters of the project, explained the reason for choosing GeneXus X: “Doing it with GeneXus X using Ajax technology allowed the implementation to be very dynamic, and this is a highly important advantage for the quality of this type of software.”
Software functionalities: •The software allows for remote visualization and management of the heated space. •It makes visualization and real-time control of changes possible for technicians. •It is applied with a friendly interface in the form of a graphic calendar of the activation and deactivation times to make this software very easy to understand. •It allows clients to plan through a browser the days and times in which the centralized heating system must be activated or deactivated.
