The tests that were performed have proved that this
GXPortal version is 300 to 500% faster than the previous ones, said Eugenio
Garcia, GXPortal Project Manager.
"Previously, the way of accessing the database was through
the ODBC. Now, it is done through ADO.NET, which makes the access a lot more
efficient; therefore, the main benefit for our clients is that GXPortal works
much faster," he added.
ADO .NET is a characteristic supported by GeneXus 8.0 .NET
generator (#1 Upgrade) as a method to access the database. In addition to
ADO.NET features, which allow a more direct access to the database, ARTech
development team has incorporated other technologies (such as data caching) that
speed up this access modality significantly.
