With a renewed image and an efficient design providing
dynamism and interactivity, ANTEL's Corporate Portal (www.antel.com.uy) integrated more information
and services, enabling fast, simple and full access.
ANTEL's clients can personalize the portal's contents
through the "My ANTEL" option where by registering -free of charge- they
can select their preferred information and access on-line services as well as
News and Promotions, among other options.
Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (ANTEL)
started with a small Intranet developed by the Human Resources Division which
grew to become unmanageable with over 7,000 pages. This growth in the volume of
information gave rise to the idea of making the Corporate Intranet, with the
support of the Data Processing Division of ANTEL.
For this purpose several portal and content administration
tools were considered, both national and foreign, and GXportal was selected
because it met both costs and required features. "GXportal offered a software
base that had a high percentage of the features we needed and it also offered
the possibility of growth on the basis of the development with GeneXus", pointed
Mario Bossolasco, Internal Communications Manager for the Human Resources
Division of ANTEL.
"GXportal lets us integrate contents and applications that
we had developed previously ? personnel management system, administrative
management system ? as well as ensure the integration of future tools (CRM,
ERP)", added Bossolasco. The Corporate Portal offers access to 28 knowledge
communities and 45 applications, 11 of them with free access and 34 with
restricted access. Among these applications, there is the management information
system, self-service systems for employees ? attendance control, salary
collection queries, personal paging, company measures, Board resolutions, etc.
With GXportal, the user accesses through a link the integrated applications
which are embedded and displayed in the user's own interface while respecting
the design of the company's corporate image.
After the successful internal experience, the Corporate
Marketing Division started a reengineering project of the client oriented
portals by creating the "Corporate Portal". Ms. Claudia Mato, Manager of
Marketing for Residential and Government users says that the new Corporate
Portal "presents a clearer and better organized structure for People, Homes and
Companies and enables access to the integral Product and Services range that
ANTEL offers through its various business lines: Telephone, Ancel, Anteldata and
Public Telephones. To reinforce the navigability concept, the Portal's colors
are associated to the Product/Service type: yellow for Telephones, orange for
Mobile Telephones and green for Data and Internet."
The Intranet and the Corporate Portal were developed with
GXportal, for the Microsoft.NET platform and they use Microsoft Windows 2003
Server.
