What is TEAMS?
TEAMS (Travel Expense
Administration and Management System) simplifies expense report handling. The
system is 100% web, so it can be accessed from anywhere through the Internet.
These reports may refer to travel expenses (T&E), car mileage or just
company expenses such as office-supply purchases, etc.
Thanks to GeneXus, we
have created a very flexible, easy-to-configure system that can be used for
multiple industries. It has an approval process (workflow-type) that facilitates
the approval of incurred expenses. It also offers auditing, personal-expense
payment, and data export into the financial system. We use GXQuery for
reporting, which allowed us to provide our clients with very powerful reporting
capabilities without having to create a dozen reports.
Why did you decide to change to GeneXus 8.0?
Some months ago, we decided to market TEAMS as
a product for targeting new clients. This kind of product is on the rise in the
United States, given the current cost-reduction trend. We needed a standard,
user-friendly, and professional-looking interface. That is why we decided to use
GeneXus 8.0 Themes.
What other new GeneXus 8.0 features are you using?
TEAMS sends notices through e-mail. Instead of
incorporating the feature to TEAMS, by using web services, created an
application that only sends e-mails and that may be used for all our products.
We used the WSDL Inspector in order to help us with programming. We also used
other features such as header access with JavaScript, for the calendar.
What are your future plans?
We have just added receipt scanning by using BLOB's; this is
another new feature from GeneXus 8.0. We are also implementing 'company
policies', which limits the expenses incurred per-category, for defined groups
of people.
