Sistarbanc, an Uruguayan VISA card processor, is currently offering its clients access to their account information from a Website that has been developed with GeneXus 7.5. |
Sistarbanc is a credit card processor who deals with VISA card in Uruguay, where it works with more than 50% of the issuing banks in the market. Three years ago, the company started offering its customers the possibility of accessing all their accounts information through the Internet. The first version of the site was developed in GeneXus 7.0 and generated in RPG/400 with the Web Server on an AS/400 server. In 2001, Montevideo COMM was appointed to redesign the site, for which it upgraded the development by using GeneXus 7.5. This has resulted in an application running on a Windows NT server with a SQL Server, where accessing the information stored in the AS/400 server is possible. Cecilia Poittevin, from Montevideo COMM, explained that access to multiple data stores and delivery of e-mail in HTML format with web wrappers, are two new functionalities of GeneXus version 7.5, which were used in this development. She added that the project was started with beta 2 of the GeneXus Solís version, and finalized with the Release Candidate of GeneXus 7.5.
At http://www.sistarbanc.com.uy, VISA users in Uruguay - where the number of issued cards exceeds more than 400,000 - can access all the information pertaining to their credit account that was generated last year. If they wish, they can receive not only their statements, but also due-date reminders by e-mail for payment of their cell-phone accounts, whether they receive service from Ancel or Movicom -the two phone companies currently operating in the country. Moreover, once there, they can print the statement with the bar code necessary to enable them to proceed with payment. VISA cardholders can also carry out queries, which are performed on-line in real-time accessing of the AS/400 server. Pending authorizations and balance-related computations are examples of information that can be queried in this way. Marisa Casamavor, from Montevideo COMM, stressed the fact that the level of performance of these queries is quite high. Users from abroad were the first ones to benefit from this new service provided by Sistarbanc, whose client portfolio is made up mainly of clients with accounts in off-shore banks. Ms. Casamayor added that the new site offers better service with less work, since everything is done automatically, with no maintenance efforts required |
