GeneXus technology to generate applications for Smart Devices
As announced by Nicolás Jodal at the XX GeneXus Meeting, two distinct categories of applications for Smart Devices can be developed using GeneXus technology: business applications and personal applications.
To create these types of applications, especially the business ones, the beta version of GeneXus X Evolution 2 featuring a Smart Devices Generator was launched last month (see www.genexus.com/xev2beta). In addition, GeneXus Smart Devices eXpress is focused on the second type, that of personal applications.
GeneXus SDX
GeneXus SDX is the tool to quickly and easily develop personal applications for Smart Devices.
It is aimed at spanning the range of small, personal applications, that is, those that run on a mobile device and are related to people's daily lives, for example, keeping a list of immunizations, the kids' school grades, your golf handicap, an inventory of books in your personal library and loans made, or the number of calories consumed in a diet, to cite some examples.
With just a browser and using the SDX, you can quickly develop these simple applications that hide a complex technology stack.
Easy steps required: from the browser, design Business Components and add them to a Menu, customize pattern instances, click on a "Build" button and leave the rest to the SDX. This means that upon pressing the button, GeneXus SDX will make everything available on the cloud in a matter of seconds, ready to be downloaded or executed. At the same time, GeneXus SDX will have generated the back office, which can be accessed online and also serves data and metadata via ReST to applications generated and compiled with it in the native language of each device, whether it be BlackBerry, a device running Android or iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch).
Beta Test
The beta version has been released to a selected group of applicants with concrete ideas. They have already started to develop their applications and in the next few days -and as we ensure the level of service that we want to provide- more applicants will be invited to participate so as to expand this process.
