Currently, GeneXus Next is available only to beta testers. Its global release is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.

The new edition of GeneXus, set to launch in the first quarter of 2025, revolutionizes software development within the GeneXus ecosystem with the incorporation of Generative Artificial Intelligence. With this technology, developers can describe the system they need using natural language, in their own language, and with their own words. Based on this description, GeneXus automatically generates the entire system, making the process more intuitive, agile, and efficient.

GeneXus Next democratizes software development by enabling any user, from experienced developers to Citizen Developers, to create complex applications without requiring advanced technical knowledge. This fosters innovation, accelerates digital transformation, and expands possibilities for organizations of all sizes, redefining the software development landscape.

GeneXus Next now supports Mac, Windows and Linux. This was made possible by completely rewriting the GeneXus core in .NET 8.0 and transitioning to a fully 64-bit environment, expanding its reach to a more diverse audience.

The user interface (UI) has been completely rebuilt using modern web technologies. Dark mode is another new feature, designed to enhance user experience, especially in intensive work environments.
Additionally, GeneXus Next introduces the Mercury design system, which is open-source, providing flexibility and adaptability to the IDE.
 

3. Artificial Intelligence integrated at every level

  • GeneXus Next is equipped with AI assistants that facilitate the creation of GeneXus objects, such as entities (Transaction objects) and processes (Procedure, API, and even Agent objects). These assistants simplify modeling tasks, optimizing the development process.
 
  • You can also incorporate AI into the applications you develop using tools like Agent objects, the Embedding data type, the Chat User Control, and Agentic Workflows.
