Discover how a credit card processing company implemented generative AI to migrate and remediate its vulnerable internal application code in record time.
Problem
The client was facing a security audit that required the remediation of internal business applications unning on outdated Java technology to newer, more secure versions in a very tight timeframe. On the other hand, the lack of updates to the applications left them out of support and vulnerable to attacks, putting the client's security and compliance at risk.
Objective
Remediate the applications, migrating the code to a newer one and switching to new libraries that support the new code. In addition, it was decided to implement Generative AI to speed up the understanding and development processes in order to comply with the audit deadlines.
Challenges
In addition to tight implementation timeframes, the need to obtain legal approval to use generative AI as an accelerator brought further complexity. On the other hand, restrictions on access to cloud services required the creation of an environment within our private AWS with a local instance of an LLM.
Solution
To address this challenge, we proposed to use Globant Enterprise AI as an accelerator in the migration and remediation processes. Agents developed with this platform were used to facilitate the understanding of existing functionality and generate new code more efficiently. The Agents that have been used are:
Product Definition Agent: It provides Business Analysts with tools to better understand legacy code and create more accurate user stories aligned with business needs.
Code Fixer Agent: It accelerates code generation, allowing Devs to focus on code review and adaptation, ensuring that quality standards are met prior to production deployment.
This strategy optimized development processes, improving collaboration between teams and accelerating the delivery of effective solutions to the market.
Results
The implementation of this accelerator created with Globant Enterprise AI is expected to allow the completion of the code migration in only 5 months, which represents a 4-month reduction compared to a traditional migration. This solution will enable the client to meet the internal security audit deadlines and avoid both security and compliance issues.
