Some years ago, a Japanese high executive visited Breogán Gonda: “Basically, the meeting was very formal -through an interpreter- and, at some point, I thought that we were both wasting our time", Artech’s President recalls. "Finally, I started to speak in English to explain that we had done extensive research in the field of automatic knowledge management, which had enabled us to achieve a series of remarkable things, but most importantly, it allowed for a world without programmers".
A few minutes later, the executive interrupted the explanation to take the role of the speaker: "Your technology can save the software and services industry in countries with high salaries, such as Japan, because if we keep developing at a low level, this development will inevitably be moved to countries with highly skilled human resources and very low salaries: this industry has no future in developed countries", stated Mr. Fumio Owaki.
Later on, Nicolás Jodal traveled to Japan to continue the negotiations that led to the agreement with GeneXus Japan Inc., Master Distributor of GeneXus in Japan. The company, run by Mr. Fumio Owaki, was created to distribute GeneXus and adopted the name of the flagship product and "Japan Inc.", as is customary for foreign companies established in Japan.
At present, GeneXus Japan Inc. participates in technology fairs and exhibitions, and holds GeneXus Day events twice a year. These events are special occasions for the Japanese Community, which gathers with the objective of getting up to date with the latest GeneXus technologies and sharing knowledge and experiences by presenting Success Stories.
These meetings have been growing steadily in attendance in a region where GeneXus itself is growing at a fast pace. The latest GeneXus Winter Day 2010 was held on December 7 (Read the article here), and the next GeneXus Spring Day has been scheduled for May 25, 2011.
