When the developer wants to automate processes in the enterprise in order to get more productivity, he counts on a GeneXus tool: GXPM.

Initially, the development process requires, the model’s definition, meaning, explicit details as to the roles and the assignment of users to each role. WorkFlow engine takes care of controlling, routing and performing the tasks’ automatic following, while the user works with a graphic interface: the Inbox. This interface, which is today an independent application, will be integrated to Outlook in the future, and we are considering access through Internet from a navigator. In order to do this, XML protocol will be used as a language of exchange between the WorkFlow engine and the Web server, which will take care of translating to the user’s HTML language.

The aggregation of the image supports to Word documents and Excel, which we work with currently, , is among the foreseen developments for GXFlow.

Apart from that, the possibility of defining ‘ad hoc’ tasks will be incorporated, offering all the possible paths to follow in an instant, instead of determining a finite number of tasks to be performed. Sub-processes will also be added in the modeling, which offer more capacity for abstraction, and the possibility of re-using sub-processes among different diagrams.
