MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay, May 2004.- Oracle, the world's
largest enterprise software company, has announced its alliance with ARTech, a
leading provider of requirements-driven software development tools and knowledge
management solutions, to jointly improve the generation of GeneXus applications
on Oracle technology.
The agreement supports the mutual commitment to
develop trustworthy, high performance applications using GeneXus tools on Oracle
databases, and to specialize the GeneXus Java Generator to make the most of this
platform's advantages: solution maturity, security, portability and freedom to
choose among the Java solution providers in the market.
"Thanks to this alliance, ARTech and Oracle will
work together to boost the use of GeneXus and the Oracle 10g platform. GeneXus
is a technological guarantee for our clients and, once again, we are partnering
with a technology leader to ensure GeneXus clients continuity in the face of
chance and technological improvements appearing in the market," said Gustavo
Proto, GeneXus Program Manager.
ARTech has been selected as a strategic partner
because of its experience in building and integrating mission-critical
applications that easily adapt to business change. Their know-how is combined
with Oracle technology to offer robustness, security, scalability and the
possibility of providing a technological offering that allows companies to "do
more with less."
"We are proud to share a large installed client
base with GeneXus. For this reason, we're further concentrating our efforts with
ARTech to improve the integration of the two platforms and bring to the market
the most appealing technical and business solution," explained Juan Caffaro, ISV
Manager at Oracle, Southern Region. "The GeneXus community thinks in terms of
cost reduction, compatibility and scalability, all of which are values shared by
both companies," added the Oracle executive.
Solur strengthens its solutions to run on
Oracle 10g
Solur is a renowned
Uruguay-based software development company serving the Latin American market.
Among its products is Truck, a complex system for product distribution and
logistics operations. The system, which was developed with ARTech's GeneXus, is
being completely migrated to Java on Oracle to benefit from the advantages of
Oracle 10g. This innovative architecture has automatic management features that
assist in automating statistics gathering, instance and memory fine-tuning,
among other repetitive tasks. This dramatically reduces the management effort,
which can translate into savings and more effective database management.
"Oracle 10g adds important features that GeneXus
will use to let our clients make the most of the latest database technology,"
said Gerardo Wisosky, Solution Partners Manager at ARTech.
Solur's decision, which will be jointly supported
by ARTech and Oracle, also involves the proposal to ensure that their code
generator optimizes the use of Oracle technology. This first step paves the way
for GeneXus users to achieve high-quality conditions for their development work
on Oracle 10g.
