ARTech, a leading software development company based in Montevideo Uruguay with USA headquarters in Chicago, IL, announced the availability of two important betas that are compatible with the Microsoft .NET Framework. GeneXus is an intelligent systems generator for Microsoft .NET. It allows automatic design, generation and maintenance of database and application programs for computer systems. GXVision is a complete application for the TV Cable business in Latin America, developed with GeneXus for .NET.
"Microsoft is pleased to be working with ARTech in delivering customers a comprehensive business solution," said Alain Gentilhomme, Director of the .NET Framework and Visual Studio Evangelism at Microsoft Corp. "The combination of GeneXus and the .NET Framework will provide an exciting new solution that hides the intricacies of database design from business users, in order to maximize the productivity of our mutual customers."
"Microsoft and ARTech are definitely on the right track together", said Nicolas Jodal, VP of R&D. "Like Microsoft, ARTech is committed to build a foundation in XML and SOAP, to make it relatively easy for organizations to connect diverse platforms without having to rebuild everything from scratch. Microsoft's & ARTech's strategies and objectives closely aligned
ARTech is working with Microsoft Visual Studio.NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework to integrate them with GeneXus' tools. GeneXus for .NET is a Microsoft C# code generator which generates 100% pure Microsoft C# automatically from existing GeneXus applications. As previously mentioned, GXVision is a current GeneXus application which was ported to Microsoft C# automatically.
GXVision has over 1700 programs, 300 tables, and 700 Webforms and was converted to the new Microsoft language. With over 2 million lines of generated Microsoft C# code developed by GeneXus for .NET by 2 developers in 2 months, we feel that GXVision is one of the largest commercial applications in the world inside the Microsoft .NET universe. Both of these betas will be available to our existing clients worldwide on June 18, 2001.
"Microsoft, in combination with ARTECH is delivering to corporate developers and ISVs a set of comprehensive development tools for the Microsoft .NET Framework." said Wilson Pais, Partner Group Manager at Microsoft Uruguay. "ARTECH GeneXus will provide high productivity tools for creating and consuming XML Web Services and Enterprise solutions integrated with the Microsoft .NET Framework and Visual Studio.NET", added Pais.
"ARTech has developed a very unique technology to automatically manage the business system's knowledge. Using this technology, it was possible to build an intelligent tool [GeneXus] to capture and systematize the knowledge and then, to automatically design, generate and maintain 100% of the systems", said Breogan Gonda CEO & President of ARTech.
"Working with the Microsoft .NET Framework is extremely exciting for ARTech and its clients around the world," said Breogan Gonda, CEO & President of ARTech. "By expanding our relationship with Microsoft through the .NET Framework, we are in a very good position to help move our clients to this Framework without rewriting any code. This will also make our product and applications at the top of any IT Managers list as we can help them get to the .NET market as it has a scalable architecture that takes full advantage of the power and flexibility of the Internet to improve processes and outcomes.
