Enrique Almeida and Marcos Crispino present a new Extension for generating a pattern from several instances in the Knowledge Base. |

-What is Automatic Pattern Generator about?
The project consists of developing a tool for searching code patterns in the knowledge base and for extracting patterns to be applied on other objects.
The idea came up upon a development that turned out to be quite repetitive, where there was a clear pattern, but due to the number of "instances" to be generated, developing a pattern was not justifiable.
So, the question was: What if we have a tool for doing it automatically? (Further information at http://blog.marcoscrispino.com/2009/10/automatic-pattern-generator-idea-para.html)
- What motivated you to participate in the second edition of Collaborative Projects 2.0?
The first edition was a positive experience. These projects allow for doing things that are in a way different from what we do every day, so they are actually fun. And also the possibility of working with people who are geographically scattered is also an interesting challenge.
- What are the challenges involved in your project?
Apart from the complexity of the development in itself, the greatest challenge is to create a community that will be part of the development (in addition to related tasks) of the project.
- What are your expectations in relation to CP 2.0?
We would like to achieve a tool for fulfilling a specific purpose, to be available for use by the Community. But beyond this, we also want the project to become a successful open source project, with the participation of many in different roles and tasks, that is: we want it to continue functioning after the competition is over.
