- What is RCOMenu Tools & Documentation for GX about?
Actually, it’s a suite of basic applicatives that we always wanted in GeneXus. Because we learnt how to do it and we ended doing it with the support of the Community, we thought it would be fair to return this knowledge to the Community also.
We ended up with simple routines, like opening GX basic folders, activating and de-activating Windows services, and found some very interesting things like generating documents of objects of the KB at our will, generating the reading of tables towards a data provider for creating records. In sum, everything that, as a GeneXus X Beta Tester, I felt necessary gradually became true in this modest RCOMenu Extension.
- What motivated you to participate in the second edition of Collaborative Projects 2.0?
Two things: sharing knowledge by returning to the Community what it helped me to do, and the prize, which is quite interesting for a small software house like ours.
- What are the challenges involved in your project?
The greatest challenge is to apply new GeneXus resources that are anxiously expected. Today I came upon two interesting things: the MSBUILD for creating help, and the MSBUILD for applying patterns. It was a hit by Artech to use these new technologies of CSHARP in GX EVL1’s IDE, and we will be applying that in the RCOMenu.
We are confident, because we always had the support of the Artech development team, and we think we can make it there.
- What are your expectations in relation to CP 2.0?
This CP 2.0 project was a great idea by Artech, because it offers the whole Community a space for showing knowledge acquired to be applied in Evolution 1. I think something (ideas) were missing in the WebDesign area, and this is a suggestion for doing something in relation to Themes, something like a themes public gallery for great artists of the web to have a space for expressing.
We congratulate and thank Artech for listening to what we have to say and helping in making our work available to the public.
