At the XIX GeneXus International Meeting, PuntoExe Consultores announced an innovative offering aimed at overcoming the traditional limitations for promoting proprietary software when compared to free software.
For that purpose, they have announced the release of a full-featured trial version of their PXTools product (for GeneXus X and GeneXus X Evolution 1), with no time restrictions and for an unlimited number of users that can be used for migrating or developing small projects of the Community.
The definition of small projects includes cases which have one KB with a small number of GeneXus objects or small modules of a larger KB, as the size refers only to objects modeled with the tool.
As explained in the new website
www.pxtools.com.uy (implemented to support this initiative), a small project is developed in one KB with a maximum of:
• 30 Transactions applied in PXWorkWith Instances
• 20 PXWorkWith Instances
• 5 PXParameterRequest Instances
• 2 PXComposer Instances
• 1 PXOAV Instance
• 100 WebPanels
Even if eliminating the time restriction (typical of Trial versions) is an incentive that increases the usability of any software offered in trial mode, it’s even more useful when the trial product is a new and more efficient way of programming such as PXTools.
In this way, the user can be certain that in the future he will be able to maintain the applications created with this Trial with the same ease and without losing the application’s dynamism.
The main objective is to give the opportunity to use these state-of-the-art resources for a long time in exchange for more widespread use of the product, which is now available to projects that due to their small size didn't justify such an investment in technology.
Regardless of the fact that the offering is free of charge, those users who want to use the customized technical support services can do so by paying the product's annual maintenance fee, and they will receive the same preferential service as do any other PuntoExe clients.
Otherwise, a forum has been created in the above website of the tool to enable users who are trying out the free version of PXtools to send their support requirements to PuntoExe's Technical Support Department.
