GXportal is available in the market's most important
platforms - Java and .NET- starting with Java's Release Candidate version.
Thanks to the technological back-up of GeneXus, GXportal is able to support
multiple platforms and database managers, explained Eugenio García, GXportal
Project Manager.
The Release Candidate version of GXportal was released at
the end of October with upgrade #1 of GXportal 4.0. It includes support for Java
using Oracle or DB2 UDB as DBMS, among other new features.
One of the most important features added in upgrade #1 is
Portuguese language support for managing backend operations. The portal
administration tools are now available in three languages: English, Spanish, and
Portuguese.
In addition, this version of GXportal uses GeneXus caching
features. They have significantly increased the performance of portals built
with GXportal. Moreover, portal scalability has also improved because the same
hardware can now support more users.
GXportal will continue adding support for new
technologies, said Eugenio García. In the future, GXportal Java will support
PostgreSQL, and later on MySQL, he announced. The .NET version will also support
Oracle and DB2 UDB, said García.
