GXtechnical, Artech's Intranet and Extranet have been migrated to GXportal 4.5

(02/02/2009-19:24)
Learn about our experience with this new version and what we have discovered while implementing its features.
To start 2009 with an even fresher look and to take advantage of the fact that GXportal 4.5 is already on the market, GXtechnical and Artech's Intranet and Extranet have been migrated to the new version to use all the latest portal technology.

Below we share our experience:

• One of the key new features that you will find while browsing our websites is that they allow users to add comments. (SAC # 24569)

• Thanks to this migration, even though the websites have been kept without major changes, their management has been improved. Content editing with the new editor is much more powerful in the sense that we have more features, such as the ability to add more object types, etc. (SAC # 24311)

• In addition, the ability to add links to pages within GXportal is very useful. (SAC # 23540)

• The possibility of editing web components from the page editor is also a great advantage. (SAC # 24087)

• The most important improvement that we've noticed is the distribution of the Newsletter. Distribution has been optimized by adding management by accounts and by number of emails and groups, which make it possible to send it to a large number of email addresses in a more organized and fast way. For example, we can easily configure GXnews to be loaded and delivered because we can manage server traffic in addition to the possibility of sending three issues of the Newsletter in three different languages. Also, secure protocol support has been added as well as the possibility of changing the default port. (SAC # 24570)

• When a news story is expanded, its title is incorporated into the page title. In the content expansion portlet, now you can configure if the title of the browser window will continue to show the page description, the title of the content being displayed, or both. This property is in the general group of properties of this portlet. (SAC # 22623)

• RSS content is exported regardless of the format. There is a new property in the content GXportlet of the RSS group. It is called "Do not include formatting in the summary" and indicates that the generated RSS will publish the content summary with no formatting of font, size, etc. For compatibility reasons, the default value for this property is "No". We at the Marketing Department have found that it gives us more freedom when it comes to applying a design to the consumed text. (SAC # 23174)
