How to: Conversions of GeneXus applications |
| (07/12/2009-18:38) |
What is the importance of converting GeneXus applications? This question is answered in the following “How to” article, prepared upon consideration of frequent cases of migration, upgrade, and technological update that include migration to GeneXus X Evolution 1. |
The founding principle is that a good solution must be functionally complete and technologically updated.
GeneXus keeps in step with technological evolution by launching successive versions of its product that include more power, functionalities and platforms, among others. Because GeneXus solutions are represented on a knowledge base, such conversion – where “conversion” means changing to a new version or the use of a certain technology – is usually that: a conversion that keeps costs low, as opposed to other tools that imply almost a re-implementation (re-programming) of the whole solution.
We invite you to check the step-by-step guide on the Community Wiki, where you will find different conversion cases (including migration to GeneXus X Evolution 1), plus supplementary information.
For full details on different conversions, from basic to advanced, refer to the Technical Conversion Guide. |
