The IT area at Faber-Castell Brazil documents internal solutions and procedures with GXWiki in a fast and easy manner. |
Recently, the IT area at Faber-Castell Brazil has incorporated the GXWiki into its work methodology as a tool that facilitates, among other things, documentation access, storage and creation. In addition, it has been customized to meet the company's needs; for this reason, the GXnews team has contacted the development team at the IT area to talk about this.
How would you briefly describe the main advantages of having a Wiki in the organization?
One of the main features of GXWiki is the ability to easily organize and document internal solutions and procedures of the IT area for all the company's users, simplifying the search for documents and making it more effective. Another important item is the creation and maintenance of documents and structures (categories and subcategories), which can be done in an easy and flexible manner, without the need for an analyst or changing program codes, doing all this through the system's own functionalities and even having a history log.
In addition, the automatic generation of charts and statistics allows us to know when users open the Knowledge Base, and the system, which can be accessed through a Web browser, doesn't require the installation of any additional software in the users' computers. As for security, it's interesting to note that we have public access documents next to confidential information which is not available to all users, with the ability to divide this information by access groups (for example, documents that belong only to a specific department).
Due to all these characteristics, GXWiki has met all our requirements and needs.
Was GXWiki adapted in any way to meet specific needs?
Yes. As it was developed with GeneXus and its source code can be accessed, we could easily adapt it in addition to the user-friendly screens. We added some features to comply with the company's specific requirements.
