Along with other software houses certified by Artech’s
Platform Partners Program,
PuntoExe continues to grow in IT quality.
As it developed the
PXTools version for
GeneXus X, PuntoExe Consultores was hired under an
outsourcing scheme to build an Operating Management System for
V.Y T .Viajes y Turismo.
V.YT. Viajes y Turismo is a travel agency with more than 27 years of experience providing services in the Uruguayan market. It has always been characterized for being among the first to use the most advanced computer systems available and for accompanying the fast-changing global tourist market.
In keeping with its reputation, the travel agency wanted to develop a
Web platform application that would address the particularities of its line of business, which is currently marked by a high degree of automation and enormous
interaction with the Web Servers of airline companies for ticket reservation and issuing purposes.
It didn’t have to go very far to find the best way to reach that goal: GeneXus X allowed it to develop these applications and PuntoExe offered an ideal solution to develop them using its
PXTools.
PXTools is a suite of tools designed as an advanced development of the
WorkWith Pattern –a GXPattern created by Artech developers- with the purpose of achieving the automatic generation of the Web interface (
Web Panels) of a GeneXus system, either to apply it in a Win-to-Web migration process, or to develop a full Web system, like in the case of this travel agency.
In order to adapt PXTools to some of the specific requirements made by VYT’s operators, PuntoExe had to develop new functionalities that would make tasks easier, such as screens that provided the possibility of displaying Dynamic Tabs, with labels and contents being solved in real time. Tab scrolling was also implemented to allow for the possibility of numerous tabs.
For PuntoExe it was an excellent opportunity to test the behavior and flexibility of its PXTools suite –which now incorporates the new GeneXus X Web features-, under a rigorous system with sophisticated resource requirements in the user interface, in order to give the agency’s operators the greatest flexibility possible in account management and customer service.
For this development it also incorporated a new pattern: the PX OAV Pattern. This is a highly advanced version of Artech’s OAV Pattern that allows you to define personalized attributes in different system tables during installation, which can later be processed according to their specification. This resource greatly simplifies the general structure of the model and allows you to adapt its operation to the specific characteristics of the business it is installed in.
The system has not become operative yet, but Nicolás Perciavalle, the company’s Executive Director, says: "
I can clearly see the advantage of having developed our own system with GeneXus and PXTools, because of the ease and speed with which PuntoExe adapted its user interface to our operators’ requirements during this trial stage." For his part, company founder Alberto Perciavalle adds: “The new system will enable us to continue meeting the high standards of service that we have always met, but with much less effort from our staff.”
This development will be exhibited in PuntoExe’s exhibit booth at the VII GeneXus Meeting for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean that will be held on May 6, 2009 in Mexico D.F. At the event, PuntoExe will also launch a special offer of its “
PXTools for X” at a huge discount price valid for the 30 days following the event.
