Sudameris has become a pioneer in Web Services with GeneXus

"Two years ago, we defined GeneXus as the standard internal development tool focused on the AS/400 environment for our Bank Core", said Joaquín Montenegro, Technology Manager at Banco Sudameris. Given the urgent need to offer a tax payment service through the Internet, per a request from Colombia's Secretariat of the District's Financial Affairs, Banco Sudameris has hired consultancy services for the development of such application. The hiring was done through Qunram GeneXus' local distributor.

"The application was developed in only seven days by using GeneXus' latest version", José Luis Chalar, reported. Mr. Chalar was in charge of the consultancy project for the bank.
Although the urgency laid in handling payments of a specific tax to a State collector, the product that has been developed handles different types of taxes for different types of collectors, Mr. Chalar explained.

The system works on-line on the client's balance, establishing a connection between the environment of the Secretariat of the District's Financial Affairs and Banco Sudameris' AS/400 environment where real-time transactions occur, under strict security measures.
Mr. Chalar reported that the information exchanged between the Secretariat and the bank is sent under the protection of the (PGP), ciphered and encrypted by public code, as well as a 128-bit SSL secure protocol scheme.
It is also important to keep in mind that clients receive a list of all their account transactions.
The application has been generated in Visual Basic, uses ASPs, Web Services and calls to remote procedures.

"Due to the evolution of GeneXus (version 7.5) in development for the Internet, the excellent results in projects such as that of the Secretariat of Financial Affairs, and our efforts in maintaining GeneXus' standard in our development processes for information systems, we have decided to set our minds on developing using GeneXus for the Internet", the Technology Manager at Banco Sudameris said.
