Agd Sistemas was founded in Montevideo, Uruguay, at the end of 2003 with the purpose of developing IT systems, covering the whole cycle: analysis, design and implementation, launch, training, technical support and evolutionary and corrective maintenance.

The needs of a land freight company to unify, improve and expand their IT systems was the initial kickoff for the creation of flota_al_día, one of Agd Sistemas’ main solutions. It covered the features of the previously used systems (tire, vehicle and fuel control, etc.) in a unified manner while it gave solution to certain problems the previous systems could not solve.

Agd Sistemas’ developers found that unifying the systems could pose a problem: everything was documented in Excel spreadsheets and Cobol programs developed some time ago. As the need to develop a new system with current tools became obvious, the solution was clear: GeneXus.

That’s how flota_al_día came to be, with two objectives in mind: on the one hand, solving the client’s specific problem and, meanwhile, making a system generic enough to be applicable in other companies. The solution started off covering the client’s needs, but it has been possible to adapt it and diversify it; the aim is always to have one system for all the company.

According to Ariel Gonzalez, Director of Agd Sistemas, “thanks to the fast and incremental development with GeneXus we could obtain operational prototypes quickly and in a very short time we finished a first production version to substitute the previous systems”.

flota_al_día, finally developed in GeneXus 9.0, has over 1,200 GeneXus objects and 150 tables approximately; it is currently installed in several companies, both state and private.

For Gabriela Demedice, Director of Agd Sistemas, “the strategic support and the relation with Artech since the end of 2006 has set up the foundations for our company and kicked off the launch of our system”.
