The first GeneXus Conference in Mexico was a total success. The event, held last November 26th at Nikko Hotel in the Federal Distric, brought together more than 200 people. |
"The enthusiasm and synergy that we shared at this I Mexico GeneXus Meeting has strengthened our momentum and conviction about providing support to the Mexican GeneXus community and making it grow," said Mexico ARTech's Manager, Sergio Gazzolo. More than 200 people participated in an event that witnessed an exchange of knowledge, projects, experiences, and good humor that Carlos Zaldívar, from Banco Bital de México has described in his own words:
I Mexico GeneXus Meeting 2002. By Carlos Zaldívar
The opening welcoming words and introductory comments on the First Intelligent Tool were very direct: They were geared towards marketing, growth and exploitation of GeneXus by Mexico ARTech, and us, the GeneXus community. Sergio Gazzolo, ARTech's General Manager, who was in charge of the opening speech, commented on the suite of available services, which is made up of training courses, support, seminars, workshops, consulting, projects, and a whole array of services which the Uruguayan company must take pride in. Then, Gerardo Pizarro, the company's Channels Manager, took the floor and managed to involve us in the advantages of GeneXus in such a way, and by means of his excellent charisma, articulation, and knowledge on the subject, that we felt just as if we had become another "object" from the Development Environment. He constantly brought his own experience, as well as other people's into a lecture that was realistic at all times: GeneXus is an Intelligent Tool. The technical aspects of the tool were in the hands of Camilo Antoria, Support Manager, and Gonzalo Echagüe, Projects Manager, who showed us the virtues of ARTech's new products, as well as the new GeneXus version soon to be released. Tools such as: GXFlow, GXPortal, GXPlorer, and GeneXus Query encompass developments and innovations that are useful for programmers, sorry& "DESCRIPTORS", and also for final users. The new GeneXus version includes one more object (THEMES), changes in RULES, in variables with changes (ARRAY), WEBSERVICES orientation - within the REPORTS format - and much more. The introduction of XML in order to strengthen GeneXus has been a great success. Furthermore, the two platforms that will rule the market continue to grow as we speak: JAVA and .NET. Will there be a third platform in the short term? Practical and real cases were used as examples, such as the Railroad Station of Valle de México and Celanese Mexicana, who have worked with GeneXus and feel that married life fits them just fine. Not only have they found loyalty and faithfulness, but also an opportunity for growth and a path that has led both of them to ONGOING IMPROVEMENT and the DEVELOPMENT of new technologies. We always agreed that the most important issue within this community is the management of KNOWLEDGE and the HUMAN aspect, because both factors have become today's business drivers. This is why it was essential, for those of us who are part of the GeneXus community, to participate in such an important event. ARTech has arrived in Mexico in order to strengthen the support for GeneXus, and it is going down the right path. Let us now wait for the arrival of the new GeneXus version. That was Mr. Breogán Gonda's message, ARTech's President, whose words are always to the point and always manage to leave the audience without the slightest presence of the shadow of a doubt. At the end of the event, new licensed ARTech tools were raffled, and fell in the hands of several lucky participants. There was also a symbolic and friendly cocktail. Thank you ARTech for making our lives easier! Last, I would like to leave all of you with a question: Is programming very likely to come to an end soon?
