The "Lince" Project, overseen by The Military School's
Planning, Development and Management Headquarters, has set as a goal the
updating of the Headquarters Institute. The new information systems will allow
the organization to achieve state-of-the-art technology, incorporating tools
required to facilitate its internal processes, informed the Chilean newspaper
"La Segunda."
"Our institution is constantly evolving in terms of
technology, and "Lince" seeks to take us a sep further, involving and
integrating all the main areas in order to interact with ease and achieve better
knowledge management," Lt. Col. Rodrigo Ortiz, The Military School's Planning,
Development and Management Control Chief, informed to "La Segunda".
In addition, the institution has chosen GXPortal to build
its Web portal. "The decision to choose GXPortal was taken to allow for on-line
work from anywhere, and to make changes to the contents and design, with a
cost-effective maintenance," informed Francisca Moreno, Design and Training
Manager for projects related to GXPortal on Browse.
"Now they control and manage the site by departments:
Professors upload their study plans and reporters are in charge of the
communication area," Moreno pointed out.
The portal was designed with GXPortal using ADO.NET for
database access, which implied a significant change in performance, Morales
added. On the other hand, she commented that functionalities offered by GXPortal
were also used to create surveys on-line, as well as for user segmentation and
backend operation manager selection.
