EMI Music Latin America uses a GeneXus application for
video streaming that allows various sites of the company to have their own,
different list of video.
The new EMI Music Latin America uses GeneXus, with Windows
Media Player 9, connected to a streaming service. Streaming technology enables
sending video, audio or flash files to a Web user in a progressive way and with
better quality, preventing cuts.
The application was developed by In-Style Software and
Digital Tech and it is connected to GXportal. The development was performed with
GeneXus 8.0 generating for .NET and using SQL Server as DBMS. The streaming
application is hosted by In-Style in Windows 2003 Server technology.
"All the back office was done with Patterns in minimum
time, very simply", explains Diego Prusky, Project manager for In-Style Software. The Windows Media
Player component integrated in the web page is used to connect the backend with
the streaming service and this component receives the parameters with the
streaming information, he explained.
The application is integrated with GXportal, the tool used
by EMI Music Latin America to build its Web sites. This integration enables
identifying the Web site from where the application has been called and the
corresponding video list.
"Each country's Web master can load the videos, set up the
photos, etc., it's very user-friendly", highlighted Ricardo Ramos, Digital Tech's director.
He also pointed out that another interesting aspect of the
development was the use of a java script to change video quality without the
need to refresh the page.
The application is already being used by www.emimusic.com.mx , www.emilatin.com and at
other EMI artists' sites.
